Fender StratocousticThe Fender Stratocoustic guitar not only looks cool, but does things that no other acoustic or electric can do. Take for instance the stratocaster electric guitar neck that's cleverly attached to the hollow body...if you gotta play rhythm and lead, then you'll be right at home on this axe. The guitar features a composite body, exactly like the Fender Telecoustic we reviewed and sold last year. Unlike the Telecoustic, however, we strung up the Strato with legit acoustic guitar strings, whereas the Telecoustic featured electric string. The tone is much better with the acoustic guitar strings, however, the addition of a wound 3rd makes bends on that string much more work. Major pluses: the onboard EQ and active pickup system is very loud, you'll have no problem being heard when plugged in. The pure acoustic tone, however, leaves much to be desired as this guitar was meant to be plugged in. Check out the introductory video we made below. We've had some comments about the tone in the video and here's what we have to say: we're transitioning to new video equipment so this vid was made on a cheap Canon ELPH pocket camera, i.e. non-pro microphones. Secondly, the strings that we're using in this vid really need to be changed and have that muddy, dead sound. Anyway, there will be a Part II for this great guitar, and you'll be able to hear and see in many more vids and lessons to come, so stay tuned. Best part of all, this 6-string wonder only costs about $250! Place your comments and questions here==>Do you have a great story about this? Share it here!
