Electric Guitars For Kids
A Great Way To Learn Music!

Gone are the days when boring piano lessons were a child's first exposure to music. Electric guitars for kids are now popular due in part because of hit music video games and highly rated television shows like Hannah Montana.

(Editors Note: The Hannah Montana "Pop Star Electric Guitar" and the Guitar Hero game controllers are NOT real instruments. They're both plastic toys with buttons.)

Kids are more likely to actually want to study music than in the past. And rather than parents dragging them to piano lessons, children are asking, "Can I get an electric guitar for my birthday?"

Top manufacturers and discount chains have noticed with offerings now found in local mom-and-pop music stores and in mega-music-marts like Guitar Center.

Case in point, the super-popular First Act electric guitar offered at Wal-Mart. These instruments, sold as packages, were flying off the shelves this past holiday season, as evidenced by the number of new students wanting lessons on these this year.

The First Act Discovery Portable (Model FE529) lists for $74.99 features a built-in amplifier and speaker, so parents won't have to fork over extra dough for the amp.

The Fender Squier line of mini instruments gets any cool kid into playing with the Squier Mini Strat, Mini Player and Squier Hello Kitty models.

The Squier mini 6-string instruments feature smaller bodies and necks and are in the $180 price range. The Hello Kitty mini models cost $249.99. A standard sized Strat with the Hello Kitty theme goes for $349.99. For more on the Hello Kitty models, see our page devoted just to these.

Epiphone makes a cool mini axe called the Pee Vee, looking like a Flying V.

More info on these models will be posted soon, so bookmark the page!
