Country Guitar Lesson

This country guitar lesson video gives you a fun, challenging lick to play in the Key of C, inspired by Hank Jr. and his "Rowdy Friends."

The lick is based on the C Major Pentatonic Scale, starting at the third position and then sliding up into fifth position.

This technique of sliding into the upper registers is very common, not only in country western and western swing music, but can be found in almost all genres of guitar playing, including rock, blues and even classic guitar.

The riff to The Beatles' classic tune Drive My Car utilizes this exact same technique. So learn this riff even if you're not a country fan, because you'll benefit from the sliding action you'll need to pull it off, so to speak.
