Johnnie B. Goode Style

Guitar Lesson

Electric Lead Guitar Intro

Talk about having some fun on the fretboard...it's like candy for the fingers. Talking here about how much fun it is to play Johnny B Goode style licks on the electric guitar. We can all thank Mr. Chuck Berry for creating this awesome guitar style, which would eventually become the rock guitar that we have today! We're talking foundation stuff here, guys and girls.

Even if you DON'T know how to hold that Grandaddy Major Barre Chord, you can take advantage of some of the smaller pieces of the chord.

Check out the little chord chunks that you play when jamming on the Johnny B Goode licks in the video below, which gives a great view of the neck for all the major guitar parts, including rhythm and lead, including fills. The major pentatonic scale gets taken out for a ride in this solo, so if you're looking for a great way to use that scale, here's your ticket.

The best TAB to this song and many classic solos can be found inChuck Berry's Recorded Version Guitar TABS

This riff is one of those that feels good to play whether you're a classic rock buff, metal head, punk, country or jazz head. And guess what? The riff ideas that you find here can be used in all the aforementioned styles.
